What is sublimation — and why does it work so well?
Sublimation is the transition from solid straight to gas, without a liquid phase — and that is exactly what happens with sublimation ink under heat and pressure. At around 200 °C the ink evaporates from the paper and penetrates the product’s polyester coating as a gas. As it cools, the coating closes and the colour sits in the material, not on top of it. That is why a sublimated mug feels smooth, the print doesn’t fade in the dishwasher and the result is photorealistic down to the smallest detail. We print every technique ourselves in our test centre — everything you read here has been under our own press.

Which products can I sublimate on?
On anything with a polyester coating or polyester textile — from mugs and aluminium panels to slippers and pillow covers. Browse the full range of sublimation blanks; every product page shows whether the blank is sublimation-ready.
Which press do I need?
A flat press for flat products, a mug press or mug oven for mugs. Browse our transfer presses by volume; for larger mug runs the TURBO Wrapper workflow is the fastest route.
Which printer and ink do you recommend?
For most starters a Sawgrass printer with matching ink — calibration and support come as one package. Epson is the alternative for printing bigger or at lower cost per print.
Is there a difference between sublimation papers?
Yes — grammage, drying time and ink load determine your result. S-RACE is our standard; per application (textile, hard surface, mugs) we advise the right variant.
Which temperature and time do I use?
It differs per product and material. Every product page lists the press settings (temperature, time and pressure) verified by our own test team.
What are common sublimation mistakes?
The mistakes we see most often:
- Ghosting caused by paper shifting during pressing — always secure it with heat-resistant tape.
- Faded prints due to wrong temperature or pressure. Tip: the correct press settings are on the product page.
- Sublimating on cotton — sublimation only works on polyester or coated surfaces.
- Low-quality blanks with poor coating that directly affects results.
Why is there no white sublimation ink?
Sublimation colours the material — white comes from the product itself. That’s why sublimation works on white or light coatings. For dark products we recommend transfer paper or UV printing.
